Connect Black Omaha

A 2015 survey conducted by the Greater Omaha Chamber, in collaboration with the Urban League of Nebraska Young Professionals, sought to assess how Black young professionals feel about Omaha. The survey revealed the need for more opportunities to connect with Black residents through social and cultural experience.

In the summer of 2018, 30 Black influencers gathered to discuss and brainstorm ways to help Omaha’s Black residents feel more connected to citywide events, local resources, and community networks. Through this gathering, Connect Black Omaha was born. Today, Connect Black Omaha is a digital platform designed to unite Black community members of all resident statuses – whether they’re transplants, returning residents, or lifelong Omahans – and help them actively engage in Omaha Black culture.
